I started my morning on Pinterest and got together a list of all the types of food children would love. Then I made them all out of felt. I made ice cream, candy, cookies, and so much more. It was fun.
Today I made the sea creatures that are going to be on my under the sea vest. I decided to make these creatures so I could spray them with water proofing so they would not fall apart. I also made them myself so they could be the bright colors I know children love. Each animal took a while but I am glad that I made them.
To test my animals, I took a few with me when I went babysitting. The children loved them so I feel confident that the children at the center will love them too.
Today was exciting. I sewed not only more button holes but I also began to sew the buttons onto my vests. It is very hard to sew buttons since you can not use a machine and there are about 45 buttons that I needed to sew today. Each one took about 6 minutes since I want them to be so sturdy that a child will not be able to pull one off.
Today I went through more of the donations that I have received and have taken apart all the costumes so I have all the material I need. I am so glad that my community came together and helped me get enough materials to make a successful project.
Today was super exciting. I sewed my first button hole today. They are hard and very tedious but they look great. I chose rainbow thread so each of the button holes look like they are surrounded by a rainbow.
I would like to thank everyone who came out yesterday to donate to my project. Without your donations my project would never of been able to happen. I would really like to thank the families who donated the bob the builder costumes. Those vests are the perfect size for my project.
Today I had my first sewing lesson and I learned so much. I am so glad that I was able to find an adult to mentor me and teach me how to sew.
Today and Tomorrow please come to habit burger in La Canada to see my collection bins. Please donate your old Halloween costumes into the bin and get a yummy snack. Your costumes do not have to be in good shape or have all the pieces.
Today, I went to Joan's Fabrics to see how expensive different fasteners are. They are very expensive and I am not sure I can fundraise enough for all the different types of fasteners I want to use. The lady I spoke with told me to research sewing instructors because they would be able to help me not only sew but also get some goods at a discounted price.
I am so glad AP Testing is over and I can focus on my Gold Award. I spent the morning researching different types of motor deficiencies. I am amazed about the number of kids that benefit from sensory integration therapy. I am so glad that I chose this project.
