Helping Kids learn how to get dressed on their own!

Dress Without Stress

Picture
For my Gold Award, I have designed different vests to help children with different motor disabilities learn how to dress. Please use this site to learn different ways that you can help a child accomplish dressing tasks.

Sensory Integration

Picture
Sensory integration is therapy that helps children learn how to manage feeling different textures. This therapy helps children conquer their fears of texture, which helps them become more open to  learning new things, life self dress. Sensory integration slowly introduces children to new textures and feelings so they learn in a safe and controlled environment.

Why Vests?

Picture
  • The vests are designed to be appealing to children. They are covered in bright colors and have all sorts of different things that children like to play with already on them. They combine toys and dressing so children do not feel as though they are working.
  • The vests are designed to be fun since children with disabilities often get stressed out very fast since the little pieces normally used in dressing games are hard on childnres hands. The vests have many different sizes so the child will feel a sense of mastery before they move on to the next size, so they will have some confidence with the vests.
  • The vests come in a variety of interests so that a child will always feel engaged so as the interests of the child age there is another vest for the child to use. The themes are gender neutral and fun.
  • The vests have detachable parts that they can chose from. They can pick and chose as many different attachments to put on so they really feel like they got to design there own vest and play in it after.
  • They are easy to clean so children can wear them to play in without having to worry about getting them dirty.
